Continuing with its series of online investments, weekly opinion journal, The Nation, has hired 24/7 Real Media to improve its web advertising technology for their website, thenation.com. The new plan will provide nation.com advertisers the ability to target specific demographic segments to reach The Nation’s readers.
MCG Capital Acquires JupiterResearch
The Jordan Edmiston Group announced finance company MCG Capital Corporation has acquired Jupitermedia Corporation’s research division, JupiterResearch, for $10.1 million. JupiterResearch provides research, analysis and advice to companies regarding the Internet and emerging consumer technologies involving their industry.
Meredith Corporation Launches Food Magazine
Better Homes and Gardens has launched a special interest quarterly magazine titled Eat. The spring premiere issue hit newsstands this week with a cover price of $4.99. Inspired by recipes from the Better Homes and Gardens Test Kitchen, Eat focuses on easy family recipes, time and money-saving tips, and recommendations on how to cook for picky eaters.
Mochila Creates Online Content Marketplace for Print Media
Online global marketplace Mochila has announced it is opening its doors to print media buyers by creating a system that facilitates commercial content syndication in a peer-to-peer manner. Newspapers, magazines and Web sites can upload print, audio, video and photo content to the site and set a price, licensing rules, embargos and other restrictions to establish content syndication. Buyers can then search for the content and purchase their download choices using a shopping cart tool.
Mochila’s charter members include Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S., Metro International, MediaNews Group, Freedom Communications, Liberty Group, Fast Company Inc., Working Mother Media, Entrepreneur Media, Rasmussen Reports, and The Greenspun Media Group.
Maxim to Create Miami Lounge
Maxim has teamed up with nightlife entrepreneur Rande Gerber to build Maxim Lounge, an oceanfront nightlife venue located at the Royal Palm Hotel in South Beach, Miami. Construction for the project will begin in early summer and should be ready in the fall.
Maxim’s publishing company, Dennis Publishing, plans on spreading the "Maxim Lounge" idea to other major cities in the next couple of years. The Royal Palm location will host brand-inspired events including Super Bowl parties and the magazine’s annual "Hot 100" party.
