MetaCommunications Launches Workgroups 2006
MetaCommunications has launched Workgroups 2006, a new cross-platform process and productivity management suite for creative, publishing and prepress. The Workgroups 2006 suite provides creative and production workgroups with process automation and management tools to help them achieve better results, faster, and with less effort.
Workgroups 2006 includes new versions of its flagship products: Job Manager 4.0, Virtual Ticket 7.0, Digital Storage Manager 2.0, and the new Approval Manager 1.0 solution. Key capabilities include financial productivity management, project & workflow management, collaborative approval management, and document storage management. Workgroups 2006 is a multi-user server based solution built on Microsoft SQL Server and .Net technologies. Client applications are available for both Mac OS X and Windows operating systems. Pricing for the product with complete multi-user suite bundles starts at $4,995. Press-sense Announces Partnership with Print On-Demand Solutions
Press-sense has entered into a partnership with Print On-Demand Solutions group to integrate the KODAK Darwin Designer software and the Web Composition Solution (WCS) into the Press-sense iWay web-to-print offering.
Using a module called Press-sense iWay Advanced VDP, customers can choose a VDP (variable data printing) tool that best meets their production requirements within the Press-sense iWay web-to-print workflow. The announcement will enable Press-sense customers to use Darwin Designer software and WCS to create, design, order, and fulfill rich VDP campaigns with an unlimited number of VI (variable information) elements of any type within the Press-sense iWay ordering and fulfillment process.
iCopyright Program Helps Publishers Get Their Stories out to Businesses and Consumers
iCopyright has launched a new program for publishers that pushes their Web content into the e-mail boxes of savvy businesses and consumers that track companies and keywords for breaking news and analysis with Clip&Copy.
Clip&Copy, which was launched earlier this month, is a free news alert and press clipping service designed to extend the reach of content from thousands of Web sites, while providing tools for managing the rights to copy and to redistribute content. Clip&Copy currently processes news feeds from the Associated Press, Reuters, UPI, and hundreds of business magazines and Web sites. Previously, publishers were required to enable the iCopyright intelligent licensing system on their own Web sites to enjoy distribution to Clip&Copy subscribers.
Printer-Distributor, Bradshaw Renews Reseller Contract with Hewlett-Packard
Bradshaw, a distributor of printers, printer parts, and printer supplies, has renewed its authorized parts reseller contract with Hewlett Packard. The agreement allows Bradshaw to continue to be one of the largest suppliers of HP printer parts in the country, Bradshaw CEO Stan Bradshaw said in a statement.
Bradshaw sells refurbished printers and pre/post paper handling systems by IBM, OCE and RSI LaserMax to clients in publishing, financial services, communications and other industries.
OneVision Releases Edit Software for Commercial, Digital, In-House Printers
OneVision, a global provider of prepress software solutions to the printing and publishing industries, has launched its Speedflow Edit 4.0 software for Mac OS X and Windows, which provides users with comprehensive PDF editing software that removes the need to obtain the original file and streamlines the production workflow.
Speedflow is software that enables full PDF editing of text, images, and vector graphics from a user’s desktop computer. Speedflow Edit places prepress editing tools in the hands of authorized print production personnel enabling complete control of all data within PDF files to save money, time and effort.
With OneVision Speedflow Edit, PDFs can be imported, edited, and exported, giving production personnel and advertisers a reliable CMYK "soft proof" before the file goes to print. Users can make a change to a color or font without the need to return to the original file or software application.
