February Magazine Rate-Card Advertising Revenue Up 5.7 Percent (posted 3/9)
Total magazine rate-card reported advertising revenue was just under $1.7 billion for February, up 5.7 percent over February of last year, according to data released today by the Publishers Information Bureau. Ad pages for the month totaled 16,571.67, up 1.8 percent from a year ago. Year-to-date ad revenue closed at almost $3 billion, up 5.5 percent from a year ago, and year-to-date ad pages totaled 29,738.51, a 0.3 percent gain.
Seven of the 12 major advertising categories posted revenue and page increases in February, with food, apparel and retail posting double-digit page growth. Five categories showed double-digit dollar gains: drugs, food, media and advertising, retail and technology.
