EE Times Group Buys Electronic Design Conference
Deal also includes co-located events, Web site and database.
United Business Media’s EE Times Group has acquired electronic design market event DesignCon as well as its database of more than 30,000 records from Professional Education International. Financial terms were not disclosed.
EE Times says the purchase expands its event portfolio into adjacent markets including chip-level system design and verification, analog and mixed-signal design and verification and IP re-use and integration. EE Times also produces the Embedded Systems Conference.
Both conferences will be led by David Blaza, who serves as vice president of events and embedded systems. Professional Education International president John Janowiak will continue to serve as a consultant in an advisory role to EE Times Group, the company says.
As part of the deal, EE Times Group also is acquiring the PCB Summit and IP Summit, two DesignCon co-located events. Also included in the deal is InfoVault, a member based Web site featuring a technical library, video and additional content covering the same markets as DesignCon.
Last year, DesignCon generated approximately $1 million in revenue, an EE Times spokesperson says. The next DesignCon is scheduled for January 31 to February 3, 2011 in Silicon Valley.
