E-Commerce News: New York Magazine To Launch Curated Deals Newsletter in May
F +W Media set to open e-commerce store with Hoffman Media, LLC.
Joining the line of publishers who are entering the e-commerce space is New York magazine and NY.com; they’ve announced a New York City-specific online deals program that is set to launch in May.
The program, New York Deals, will work in tandem with partner companies such as Gilt City, zozi, BuyWithMe and Lifebooker. Curated by New York magazine staff, New York Deals will feature a weekly round-up of deals for dining, shopping, spas, activities and events.
According to a news release, more than 15,000 users are projected to subscribe to New York Deals, which will be in the form of a weekly email.
Serena Torrey, executive director of digital business development with New York magazine’s parent company New York Media, says, “It’s incredibly difficult for busy people to know which email is worth opening and which deal is worth buying, particularly when the businesses featured are unfamiliar…by subscribing to the New York Deals newsletter, New Yorkers will be receiving a short, weekly list of the deals that are most worthy of their attention…”
In other e-commerce news, F + W Media has announced that they will be opening their 25th e-commerce store in a joint venture with Hoffman Media. The new store, which will be located at store.marthapullen.com, is set focus on the sewing marketplace.
Content will be pulled from the Martha Pullen Co. publication Sew Beautiful Magazine, The School of Art Fashion, PBS TV series and Martha’s Sewing Room (a television series), among others.
F +W Media currently has 30 magazine titles, and houses over 350 thousand SKUs over its 25 sites.
According to a news release from F + W, e-commerce revenues are up more than 60 percent in year over year comparison.
