Douglas Publications Sold to BIA Digital
B-to-b publisher’s name changed to Briefings Media Group.
BIA Digital Partners has acquired b-to-b publisher Douglas Publications. Under BIA, the business will be called Briefings Media Group.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
BIA, a Chantilly, Virginia-based private investment firm, first invested in Douglas in 2005 as part of Douglas’ estimated $15 million acquisition of the Briefings Publishing Group from Wicks Business Information. Douglas is a Richmond, Virginia-based newsletter and trade magazine publisher—including American Painting Contractor and Workplace HR & Safety magazines.
It was not immediately clear if any layoffs were associated with the acquisition. BIA did not immediately return requests for comment. Douglas Publications president Alan Douglas did not return an e-mail seeking comment.
In connection with the acquisition, BIA said it promoted Frank Finn to executive vice president and COO, and Bill Murrill to vice president of finance and administration.
Among BIA’s portfolio of investments are a number of magazine publishing groups including Hoffman Media and Macfadden Performing Arts Media.
