Senior Vice President, Content Operations and Editorial Director
Hearst Magazines Digital Media
Kate Lewis is senior VP, content operations and editorial director at Hearst Magazines Digital Media (HMDM). She is also a corporate visionary, leading HMDM into new markets (launching two new websites in 2015 while also expanding the breadth of audience across each of HMDM’s 21 digital brands); new opportunities (through key talent hires, editorial opportunities now abound); and strong measurable growth (+45% growth in unique visitors across the entire 21 brand portfolio, January 2016 versus January 2015).
In her position, Lewis is responsible for managing content groups across the Hearst Magazines Digital Media portfolio and collaborating with editorial teams on content strategy, as well as with technology and product groups. She oversees several centralized editorial teams in addition to 21 websites for brands, including Cosmopolitan, Esquire, ELLE, Harper’s BAZAAR, Popular Mechanics, and Good Housekeeping, which cumulatively attract nearly 180 million unique visitors monthly (Adobe Analytics, January 2015).
In 2015, her second full year on the job, Lewis contributed in the company-wide effort to make digital publishing at HMDM so technically easy that innovation and collaboration across its 21 editorial teams would ensue. Additionally, she set out to shatter the previous year’s audience and engagement records by focusing on talent and key hires, upping the amount of content produced every day while also increasing originality, reporting, and focus on storytelling within HMDM’s editorial organization.
