Advanstar Reports Revenue, EBITDA Increase in Second Quarter
Advanstar Communications reported today that its second quarter revenue increased 6 percent to $59.2 million from $56 million for the same quarter last year. The increase is due to 9 percent growth in the company’s Fashion & Licensing segment, 24 percent growth in the Powersports segment and 3 percent growth in the Life Sciences segment, the company said in a news release.
Fashion & Licensing:
Revenue from Fashion & Licensing for the second quarter was $11 million from $10.1 million in 2005. Revenue from the Licensing International show was up 6 percent, or $500,000. License! magazine revenue grew 18 percent, or $300,000 and experienced a 15 percent increase in advertising pages.
Revenue from Life Sciences increased to $40 million from $39 million a year earlier. The increase was due to strong performances in the company’s DVM Newsmagazine, Dental Lab Products, Formulary, and Contemporary Pediatrics publications and its launch of new conferences and other products. The gains were offset partially by a decline in revenue from the company’s IVT pharmaceutical conferences.
Revenue from Powersports was $5.5 million from $4.4 million a year earlier, due to strong growth in the company’s off-road sector, including the launch of Off-Road Expo in Salt Lake City.
