ABC Approves New Circ Services
ABC Rapid Report is a free and optional Web-based service that gives member magazines the option to electronically report circulation by issue within weeks of its on sale date, says Michael J. Lavery, president and managing director of ABC, who spoke Tuesday during a media conference call.
Several publishers are beta-testing Rapid Report, which will launch to ABC members for July-dated issues.
Leckey says the service is more responsive to buyer needs, will speed up audits, and demonstrate the value of print by gauging it against other competitive media. "It’s reporting everyone will benefit from," says Leckey.
Publishers will be able to easily revise their data as more information becomes available, Lavery says. Data will not be audited, but publishers will be required to attest to its accuracy. At the end of each six-month period, circulation averages will be automatically calculated for each publication participating in the service.
Agents Evaluated ABC’s other new service, Agent Compliance Evaluation (ACE), will allow the bureau to evaluate the abilities of its member subscription sales agents to support the audit process. The process will provide magazine publishers with added assurance that participating subscription agents have the potential to execute ABC-compliant programs. The optional, annual service will be available to all ABC-member subscription agents this summer.
Verified Finalized Lastly, the board also finalized the language and qualifying criteria for the "verified" circulation category. Analyzed non-paid direct request and list directory sources that offer an opt-out option are now included in the category.
