Jane Greenspun Gale and her husband Jeff Gale, through a newly formed Nevada-based LLC called Greengale Publishing, have acquired Niche Media Holdings from The Greenspun Corporation.

Niche Media, based in New York, publishes 11 high-end regional titles such as Aspen Peak, Ocean Drive, Hamptons and the newly launched Austin Way.

Both Jane and Jeff were managing partners in Niche Media, which until now was part of the Nevada-based Greenspun Corp., a family-held company also serving the travel and tourism, real estate and gaming markets.

A spokesperson declined to offer details on the deal terms and outside of the promotion of former president and COO Katherine Nicholls to CEO of Niche Media, no other management changes are expected at this time.

The launch of Austin Way, says the spokesperson, is indicative of the new ownership and hints at further growth via new launches. Existing titles Ocean Drive and Hamptons are also fairing well, with the 10x-frequency Ocean Drive’s July/August issue topping out at 328 total pages. Hamptons, a summer weekly with a 13-issue frequency, hit 426 pages for its July 4 issue.

Niche Media, founded by Jason Binn in 1998, was purchased by Greenspun in 2007. Nicholls took over as president in 2010 and Binn went on to launch luxe title DuJour in 2012.
