TechMedia Network, a group of digital properties for technology and science enthusiasts and professionals, has acquired Bestofmedia Group, publisher of tech and gadget review sites Tom’s Hardware, Tom’s Guide and Tom’s IT Pro.

While the company says the deal boosts TechMedia Network’s combined website traffic to 72 million monthly uniques, it also triggers its next step into e-commerce.

TechMedia plans to clone the review content and commerce model featured on across its other properties, incorporating the Tom’s recommendation engine and community features.

"By integrating our commerce engine with Bestofmedia’s communities across our combined portfolio of sites, not only will we be able to deliver personalized purchase recommendations to consumers, but also highly specialized environments for advertisers to engage these consumers with timely and relevant content," says Greg Mason, CEO of TechMedia Network, in a statement.
