Jace Lacob has joined BuzzFeed to oversee entertainment coverage for the company’s Los Angeles and Gotham teams. Lacob was previously deputy bureau chief for Daily Beast and Newsweek.

Design World has named Mary Gannon as senior editor. Gannon has covered the motion control and fluid power industries over the past eight years.

Alison Brower
has been named editor-in-chief of Dr. Oz Magazine by Hearst Magazines. Brower was formerly special projects editor at The Hollywood Reporter.

Penton has made multiple new hires:
•    Sarah Nowowiejski has been named online marketing director.
•    Liz Jordan has been named senior online marketing manager.
•    Morgan Edwards-McGee has been hired as digital ad operations manager.

UBM Tech has promoted Patrick Mannion to vice president/brand director electronics group. Mannion was previously brand director with the company.

Beth Lamb has been named vice president and associate publisher at Random House. She had been associate publisher at Rodale.

The New York Times has named Phillip Swagel contributor to Economix. Swagel will continue as professor at the University of Maryland.

Luke Rosiak has been named investigative reporter at the Washington Examiner. Rosiak was formerly investigative reporter at The Washington Times.

Amy Schlinger
has been named assistant editor at DailyBurn. She had been a freelance writer and editor.

Eliza Ronalds-Hannon
has been named a reporter at Skift. Previously she had been in Sarajevo where she held a reporting fellowship at the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project.
