The deal, a multi-year arrangement beginning in 2014 worth more than $900 million, calls for Quad/Graphics to print 19 titles and more than 85 percent of Time Inc.’s total volume. The work represents a 35 percent incremental increase in volume over the life of the contract.
“We strive for continuous improvement in our operations with the goal of delivering increasingly timely and relevant content through all of our magazine brands,” Guy Gleysteen, senior vice president of Production at Time Inc., says in a statement. “Aligning the majority of our magazines with Quad is going to provide a unique opportunity for the two companies to drive innovation and efficiency.”
Quad/Graphics will take over the printing of monthlies All You, Essence, People StyleWatch and Real Simple, and expand its regional work on Time and People. The Wisconsin-based company—who also works with Conde Nast, Hearst, Meredith and Rodale, among others—is already the exclusive printer for several other Time Inc. brands including Entertainment Weekly.
