Regional Publisher Churm Media Debuts Custom Content Division
Formalizes 10 years of custom content creation into marketing services branch.
After ten years in the custom content creation space, Churm Media officially launched its Custom Content Division today. Churm, which publishes OC METRO, OC Family, OC MENUS and Southland Golf, will offer a full range of marketing services for businesses, brands and agencies. Kimberly Porrazzo, former editorial director of Churm’s magazine portfolio, will head up the division.
“What we’re doing is not necessarily new; what’s new is that we’re formalizing and creating more and more marketing services for our advertisers and new prospects. Media companies large and small (as we’re a regional media company) are going to survive by finding non-traditional advertising revenue,” says Churm Media CEO Steve Churm.
Past custom projects include a monthly magazine for Southern California land developer the Irvine Company. Churm produced the publication for Irvine’s almost 30,000 residents for a decade.
Porrazzo explains why Churm is pushing further into the custom content game, “As companies and brands continue to move forward in the digital world, we’re becoming more knowledgeable about things like search engine page ranking and the importance of that. Refreshed content is not the easiest, but it is the most strategic, way to get to that.”
Former Churm journalists, editors and designers will be tapped to create website content, blogs, news releases and custom magazines for clients. According to Porrazzo, Churm Custom Content will only work with a select group of clients in order to maintain product quality and business integrity.
“These are the biggest challenges we’re facing as an industry: how do we evolve new sources or revenue; how do we meet changing needs of clients and users? This is another attempt by us to do that,” says Churm.
