Chris Allen has been named as publisher of Active Interest Media’s Sail Magazine. Allen has served in executive roles for Time Inc. and Hearst, and spent 20 years as Cooking Light’s senior vice president and publisher.

Garden & Gun magazine has named Mary Hammond as its executive director of integrated marketing. Hammond was previously with Elle, where she served as integrated marketing director.

Operative, a global software company, has named Matt Gay as its general manager of media monetization. Gay was formerly with Mediabrands Worldwide, where he served as senior vice president of global media systems.

Matt Phillips has joined Quartz as a reporter covering markets, finance and economics. Phillips previously reported for The Wall Street Journal.

Andrew Greene has been promoted to associate group managing editor for Money Media. Green had been serving as managing editor for the group’s Ignites.

Aviation Week has named Joseph Anselmo as its new editor-in-chief, effective January 2013. Anselmo currently serves as managing editor for the publication.

O, The Oprah Magazine has named Leigh Haber as its books editor. Haber had previously been serving as editor at large for Chronicle Books.

Kaitlin Menza has been promoted to lifestyle editor at Seventeen. Menza previously served as the associate lifestyle editor for the magazine.

Sunset has named Maili Holiman as its creative director. Holiman previously served as creative director for George Lucas Eductional Foundation’s Edutopia and Edutopia.com.

Rosie Pope has been tapped to serve as a contributing editor for Parents magazine. Pope is regarded as a parenthood expert, authoring "Mommy IQ: The complete Guide to Pregnancy," and staring on Bravo’s “Pregnant in Heels.”

Gillian Telling is now editor-in-chief of Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel magazine. Telling was formerly editor-in-chief of Front Desk New York.

EatingWell has named Stephen Bohlinger as its publisher. Bohlinger joins the magazine from the Food Network magazine, where he was the associate publisher.
