A change in administration typically means changes in personnel, and so it was on Monday (Dec. 3) when MPA–the Association of Magazine Media president/CEO Mary Berner hired Meredith Wagner as executive VP/communications. Berner has been serving since September, and Wagner will be assuming the responsibilities of predecessor Howard Polskin when she starts on Jan. 7, 2013.

Polskin is ending an eight-year stint at MPA, and his playing a major role in implementing the organization’s name change from Magazine Publishers of America in Oct. 2010 is among his major achievements.

Pre-MPA, Wagner’s career highlight was Lifetime Networks executive VP/communications, public affairs  and advocacy from 2001-2009 (the culmination of 22 years with the cable network). Most recently, she was interim chief marketing officer at the nonprofit Women for Women International.
