QuarkXPress 9 Arrives in April 2011
Latest version will allow designers to publish directly to digital devices.
Quark has announced the latest version of QuarkXPress, QuarkXPress 9.
The newest version of QuarkXPress will allow designers to publish directly to digital devices. It also contains new features which will allow design automation.
Previous versions of QuarkXpress gave designers the ability to create layouts for print, the Web and interactive Flash (SWF) media. QuarkXPress 9 gives designers the capabilities to publish to e-readers, smartphones and tablets.
QuarkXPress features an App Studio, which allows users to create customized apps and content, as well as distribute their apps through the App Store. Users will be able to utilize video/audio players, slideshows, scrollable regions, Web overlays, pop-up windows, buttons and hyperlinks to manipulate current and/or create new content.
QuarkXPress 9 also includes design for the Blio eReader, a free app that displays eBooks. The program is the sole page layout software with direct support from Blio. There is also an option to export to ePub, the free and open e-book standard from the International Digital Publishing Forum.
QuarkXPress 9 will be available in April 2011 at the current price of $799 for a full product license. Upgrades for QuarkXPress 7 and 8 will be available for $299.
