Janet Elder is now special assistant to Bill Schmidt, deputy managing editor, at The New York Times. Elder previously served as editor of News Surveys and Election Analysis. At The New York Times Marc Lacey is named deputy foreign editor. He comes from serving as the paper’s Phoenix bureau chief, and is scheduled to start his new role next month.

Bloomberg.com announced the launch of a new “sustainability” section on the web site. Eric Roston, who previously covered environmental issues for TIME, is now editor for the new section.

Reuters welcomes David Randall as a senior reporter. Randall previously served as a financial markets reporter at The Associated Press, and will now be covering investment strategies and writing the “How to Play It” column.

Two new reporters have been announced at Reuters: Duff Wilson, former reporter at The New York Times, is now an investigative reporter and associate Editor; and Megan Twohey, formerly an investigative reporter at the Chicago Tribune on the Metro desk, is now an investigative reporter.

Dwell Media welcomes Anna Alexander as photo director, and Kelsey Keith as senior editor. Alexander comes from WIRED, and Keith is the founding EIC of online community Architizer.

David Lindsey, former cover story editor for USA Today, is now editor-at-large at Reuters.

AllThingsD welcomes Lauren Goode as a reporter. She comes from The Wall Street Journal, where she was a video producer and reporter. Goode will now be covering consumer tech products and issues.

The Wall Street Journal welcomes Scott Austin as technology editor. Austin previously served as editor of Dow Jones’ VentureWire and The Wall Street Journal blog Venture Capital Dispatch.

Chris Anderson, former senior travel editor at The Huffington Post, is now senior editor. Also at The Huffington Post, Katy Hall is now senior politics editor. She most recently served at the publication as managing entertainment editor.

In addition, The Huffington Post has made several staff changes to the healthy living team: Alana B. Kornfeld, former senior editor, is now editor-in-chief, Laura Schocker is now Health & Fitness editor and Sarah Klein, former assistant editor at Health.com, is now Health & Fitness senior editor.

Newsweek and The Daily Beast appointed Daniel Klaidman special correspondent beginning in January. Klaidman comes from Newsweek where he served as managing editor. Also at Newsweek and The Daily Beast, Mark Miller is now director of editorial operations. Miller previously served at The Texas Tribune, where he was editor.

comScore announced Bert Miklosi vice president of Consumer Package Goods (CPG) marketing solutions. Miklosi comes from Ipsos ASI, where he served as VP of business development.

Allison Chesky joins Real Simple as assistant fashion editor. Chesky previously served at the publication as fashion assistant.

Ben Ronne joins Ziff Davis Enterprises as director of online product management. Ronne comes from Dow Jones, where he was in charge of strategy and development on FINS.com.

At Future U.S., Nathan Hunt is promoted to vice president of sales and business development. He previously served as executive director of integrated sales. 



Mary Beth Franklin, who previously served at Personal Finance as senior editor, is now contributing editor at InvestmentNews.

Penton Media announces Mark Flinn as vice president and market leader for Penton’s Aviation Group. Flinn comes from AviationWeek & Space Technology, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, where he was in charge of the group’s overall revenue. At Penton, he will now be responsible for managing the company’s commercial and business aviation units.

The New Yorker welcomes Alex Koppelman as associate news editor for NewYorker.com. Koppelman comes from Adweek, where he was news editor.
