Sally Preston is named publisher of Real Simple. She joins Time Inc.'s Lifestyle Group from Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, where she was group publisher.

Conde Nast announces two publisher hires: Jason Wagenheim, formerly Glamour VP/publisher, moves to Teen Vogue as VP/publisher after two months with Glamour. Kevin Martinez formely joins Details as publishers; he was consulting with the magazine after his year as ELLE publisher.

Fortune welcomes Jake Brooks as digital development editor. Brooks comes from Hazan+Company, a design firm, where he held the chief strategist and project director position.

At Politico, Ginger Gibson is now a national politics reporter. She previously served at The Star-Ledger, where she was a political reporter. Also at Politico, Anne Cronin joins as a deputy managing editor. Cronin comes from The New York Times, where she was a features editor of the Metro Section. Donovan Slack is now a senior reporter at Politico. Slack previously served as a reporter in the Washington bureau at The Boston Globe.

Rachelle Considine is promoted to chief operation officer for Future U.S., a publisher of gaming and technology media. Considine previously served as vice president of sales and marketing, and has been with the company since 2009.

Ebony names Marielle Bobo, former senior fashion editor at Essence, style director. Also at the publication, Jamilah Lemieux and Geneva S. Thomas are now digital content editors; they will help relaunch EBONY.com early next year.

Ashley Matteo is now Seventeen's news editor. She comes from SELF magazine, where she was assistant entertainment editor.

The Huffington Post has launched HuffPost Detroit, a new local section; Simone Landon is now Detroit editor and will focus on news in the Detroit metro area.

Travel + Leisure announces Venus Ferrer, former senior director, strategic alliances at Hachette Filipacchi Media, as digital ad director.

Robert Wright, who has previously contributed to TheAtlantic.com, is now a senior editor for the website.

TransWorld Media announces the rehire of Monica Capana. Capana previously served at FOAM Magazine as publisher and sales director; she will take on TransWorld SKATEboarding’s advertising initiatives.

Harper’s Magazine announces Jason Chupik, founding editor of mediabistro.com, as vice president, public relations.

Marie Claire appoints Jeremy Spears, former bookings editor, to bookings director.

Matt Sledge, former Rhode Island director for FairVote, joins The Huffington Post as a reporter.

At Coastal Living, Jennifer Slaton is now executive editor. Slaton previously served at Health magazine as deputy editor.

Jill Lawrence joins National Journal as managing editor for politics. Lawrence is currently a writer for TheDailyBeast.com and TheAtlantic.com.

At Men’s Health, Amy Rushlow is now senior editor for MensHealth.com. Rushlow comes from within the publication, where she served as senior associate editor at the website.

NBC News welcomes Ryan Osborn as senior director of digital media. Osborn previously served as a producer at NBC News’ Today Show.

W Magazine welcomes Maura Egan as features director. Egan comes from The Huffington Post, where she served as deputy entertainment and culture editor. Also at W Magazine, Diane Solway is now arts and culture editor. Before Solway’s promotion, she was senior editor at the publication.

Women’s Health names Amy Keller co-executive editor. She previously served at Allure as deputy editor and beauty director.

Jodi Marchisotta is named associate publisher, marketing at Ladies’ Home Journal magazine. She comes from FITNESS, where she was director of marketing since April 2010.

The New York Times names Kate Philips editor of news surveys and election analysis. Prior to the promotion, Phillips held the healthcare business editor position for BizDay.

Jim Adolph is named a publisher of the American Motorcycle Group; which consists of Hot Bike, Hot Bike Baggers and Street Choppers magazines. Adolph comes from Car Craft magazine, where he served as publisher for the company.

SmartMoney welcomes James Sterngold as senior writer. Sterngold previously served at Bloomberg News, where he was a reporter.

At Slate, Matt Yglesias joins as a blogger and columnist. He comes from Think Progress, where he was a blogger.
