Adobe Systems Incorporated’s Digital Publishing Suite tools will be used to adapt titles from Conde Nast, Dennis Publishing, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and National Geographic for Android tablets.

According to a press release from Adobe, the Content Viewer for Android will be utilized for tablets, beginning with the Motorola Xoom. Now available through the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite prerelease program, the Content Viewer will give consumers “intuitive navigation,…interactive overlays and HTML5 support”.

The Content Viewer technology will also provide publishers with a thorough set of metrics detailing subscriber demographics.

David Griffin, executive editor of E-Publishing at National Geographic, said, “We are excited about making our content available to consumers in flexible and convenient ways across a broad range of tablet devices. National Geographic brings incredible value to consumers who choose to experience our 50 Greatest Photographs of National Geographic on an Android tablet.”

Last week, Time Inc. launched its “all access” digital subscription plan for the Samsung Galaxy, Android smartphones and computers. The plan for Sports Illustrated consists of digital and digital/print bundles available to subscribers, with current print subscribers receiving free access to the digital offerings for the remainder of their term. HP will also carry Time Inc.’s sub app on its forthcoming tablet, ran by the Palm webOS.
