Prevention Editor Resigns

Liz Vaccariello has stepped down as senior vice president and editor-in-chief of Rodale’s Prevention, the company announced Wednesday. Her departure will be effective April 30.

Bill Stump, Prevention’s senior vice president and editorial director, will oversee Prevention’s day-to-day editorial operation (as well as Organic Gardening and Rodale.com) while the company searches for a replacement for Vaccariello [pictured]. "I am confident that in the interim under Bill's leadership, Prevention will continue to grow by every measurable metric,” chairman and CEO Maria Rodale says in a statement.

Stump was promoted to SVP/editorial director late last year when Rodale implemented a series of personnel changes across the organization, including editorial, operations, IT, communications and finance.

In addition to her edit role at Prevention, Vaccariello authored the New York Times bestselling “Flat Belly Diet!” and “400 Calorie Fix.” She will stay on as a Rodale spokesperson for those books, the company says.

Through the first quarter, Prevention's ad pages grew 8.5 percent compared to the same period in 2009, according to Publishers Information Bureau figures. In 2009 overall, the magazine's ad pages fell 25.8 percent versus 2008.
