Source Interlink to Emerge From Chapter 11

Court approves magazine distributor’s reorganization plan.

Source Interlink said late Friday that a bankruptcy court had approved its reorganization plan, allowing the company to emerge from Chapter 11 as early as June.

“The restructuring materially reduces Source's interest expense and debt levels, and substantially improves the company's free cash flow allowing Source to capitalize on several operational opportunities to further improve and grow its business,” the company said in a statement.

Source’s reorganization plan faced a handful of obstacles prior to its confirmation. An ad hoc group of stockholders recently filed a motion requesting a 45-day delay of the plan’s confirmation and to form an official committee of equity holders. The Internal Revenue Service filed an objection to Source’s plan, claiming it owes more than $10 million in unpaid taxes.

A number of other creditors—including a landlord and eVox Productions, an automotive media company—also filed objections.

It was not immediately clear how Source’s plan was amended, if at all, to appease those creditors that objected. A Source spokesperson did not return requests for comment.

The court’s confirmation comes just 31 days after Source filed for bankruptcy protection—saying it reached an agreement with its lenders to “eliminate approximately $1 billion dollars of existing debt” and privatize the company. Source’s lenders agreed to funnel $100 million in additional liquidity into the company. Source, in turn, agreed to pay “all of its vendors in full and on time.”

Source said the company's current management will remain in place and it will select a board of directors after the legal process is finalized.

Gee, I wish I could be "forgiven" of MY debts! Geesh, this company sucks. They'll probably be gone in under a year, at this rate.

When are these banks and such going to come to their senses and put this god awful company out of business. All they are doing is putting their employees through hell. They only hold meeting when something good happens. Never to distribute bad news. We deserve to hear what goes on good or bad. So when are they going to put these jerks out of business. They dont deserve to run a business. No one there has any business sense. So do the whole industry a favor and close them down

A critical line at the end of the article is "current management will remain in place". This is a poor decision by the court - leaving intact the management team that drove the company into bankruptcy.

FYI: Those who made the deal that loaded Source with all that debt are LONG GONE. As in OUTTA HERE. As in SACKED BEFORE CHRISTMAS LAST YEAR. Some posters here should really keep current on things. Oh and BTW: It sounds like you have some bitter ex-Source people posting here.

I hope source management reads this and when they go down the tubes we will be glad to see we told you so.So go start looking for another ship to sink cause yours is going fast. And btw pay your taxes
Sounds like they just pulled

Sounds like they just pulled off some kind of "miracle" business manuever. I, as well as most everyone else, have really no idea exactly what type of deals and agreements are made at the top level. I'm just happy to still have a job and not be in the same boat as a company like Anderson. Say whatever negative you want about Source, but obvoiusly someone thinks they should remain in business. If you don't think they deserve to be in business then don't do business with them. I just work there and do the best job I can. I don't make decisions that will make or brake the place. They don't pay me to. The day they run the company into the ground and stop paying me is the day I will move on. It's not a marriage. It's just a business. The days of any company really looking out for their employee's future are long gone.
Poor management is still there

As a "bitter ex-Source person" laid off in '09, I can assure you that the poor management persisted long after Christmas.

The 3 division presidents, group CFOs and their top managers haven't changed in the past couple of years. It's the same management that continues to lose revenue & marketshare.

Good thing Source's CIO, Linwood Ferguson jumped to the News Group. Whew! Just in the nick of time too.

Well so far Linwood has managed to alienate just about everyone he has come into contact with at The News Group with his obnoxious behavior and incoherent communication style. So no, not a good thing at all. Not surprised Source has so many issues if Linwood is representative of the caliber of Chief exec that is employed there.
