RBI Shutters 13 Construction Titles
Group's ‘hybrid’ business model is now ‘economically unsustainable.’

Reed Business Information has closed all but one of the magazines published under its Associated Construction Publications group, the company said today. ACP consisted of 14 regional magazines that covered the heavy, highway and non-residential construction industries.
ACP was managed under RBI’s Reed Construction Data division. RBI said it will continue to publish Construction Equipment magazine.
A RBI spokesperson declined to say how many employees were affected by the closures.
“It has become increasingly clear that ACP‘s hybrid business model of regional/national advertising is economically unsustainable,” a spokesperson wrote in an e-mail to FOLIO:. “The final issues will be published during April and affected staff will unfortunately be leaving the company during the course of the month.”
In January, RBI announced a reorganization into four market-focused groups: business media, entertainment, construction and BuyerZone, a lead generation business. As part of the reorg, RBI reduced its overall workforce by 7 percent and instituted a hiring and salary freeze for 2009.
