Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. has announced a pair of staffing changes: Eddie Alterman has been named vice president and editor-in-chief of Car and Driver magazine, replacing group editorial director John Owens, who has served as acting editor-in-chief since Csaba Csere left the company two months ago; and Steve Wilhite has been appointed president and CEO of San Francisco-based Jumpstart Automotive Media, replacing founder and CEO Mitch Lowe, who is leaving for an extended sabbatical.
Allan Donnelly has been promoted to editor-in-chief of American Media Inc.’s bodybuilder magazine Flex. Previously, Donnelly served as executive editor, a post he held since late last year.
Former Forbes chairman and publisher James Berrien has been named president and COO at Mother Nature Network, an environmental news site launched last month. Berrien left the Forbes Magazine Group last year.
Condé Nast has named Howard Mittman publisher of Wired magazine. Mittman, who formerly served as Wired's associate publisher, replaces Chris Mitchell who was recently named vice president and publisher of Condé Nast Traveler.
Hearst has appointed Neeraj Khemlani to the newly-created position of vice president and special assistant to the CEO for digital media. Khemlani formerly served as vice president and general manager of Yahoo! News & Information as well as Yahoo! Originals.
Everything Channel, a division of United Business Media, has announced a pair of personnel changes: Sam Schneider was appointed to the newly-created position of CTO and Tricia Syed, who most recently served as vice president of audience optimization at TechTarget, was appointed to the newly-created position of director of audience engagement and marketing strategy.
Reed Business Information’s Variety has undergone a top management restructuring: Vice president and associate publisher Brian Gott has been named publisher, replacing Neil Stiles who retains his title of group president; RBI Home Entertainment group publisher Linda Buckley-Bruno was named publishing director of the Variety group; Marcy Magiera was named editorial director for the Home Entertainment group; and Michelle Sobrino-Stearns was named vice president and associate publisher at Variety. Evan Schlansky has been named online managing editor for American Songwriter. Previously, Schlansky served as assistant editor at Rolling Stone, a post he held for nearly a decade.
Cosmopolitan named Michelle Stacey deputy editor. Most recently, Stacey served as editor-at-large.
Andrée de la Garza was named group marketing director of National Geographic’s Adventure and Traveler magazines. Previously, de la Garza served as director of marketing for Adventure.
Hearst's O, The Oprah Magazine has named Alison Gwinn executive editor. Gwinn previously served as executive editor at Rodale's Women¹s Health.
Las Vegas-based Greenspun Media has promoted Lani Dorlack to advertising director of Las Vegas Weekly, Home News and Greenspun Interactive. Dorlack previsouly served as ad director for Home News.
BPA Worldwide has promoted Russ Haderer to the newly-created position of senior vice president and chief quality officer. Most recently, Haderer was in charge of managing the group's member relations managers team.
