ALM, Interweave, Bauer Media, IDG, OK!, Hearst Corp., more ...

New York-based ALM has appointed Scott Pierce to the newly-created position of vice president of digital product development. Pierce previously managed his own consulting firm, Virtual Events Media. Before that he served as senior vice president at the Nielsen Company’s Travel Network.

Marilyn Murphy
, who previously stepped down as president and publisher of Interweave—a unit of Loveland, Colorado-based Aspire Media—will retire as editorial director of the company’s yarn group, effective during the first quarter of 2010. Murphy will be replaced in that position by Tricia Waddell, Interweave’s editorial director of books.

Parade magazine named Kristen Fairback to the newly-created position of vice president of integrated sales. Most recently, Fairback served as associate publisher as Entertainment Weekly and EW.com.

Harper’s Magazine named contributing editor Donovan Hohn senior editor, overseeing the magazine's Readings section, effective October 15. Christian Lorentzen, who previously edited Readings, has left the company.

Charlie McNiff
was appointed publisher and vice president of agency sales for Bauer Media’s entertainment group. McNiff previously served as associate publisher of Us Weekly.

IDG appointed John Davison executive vice president of content for GamePro Media, which publishes GamePro magazine and GamePro.com. Previously, Davison served as co-founder and president of What They Like Inc.

Playboy Enterprises named Scott Liss Midwest advertising sales manager for Playboy magazine and Playboy.com. Most recently, Liss served as national advertising director at Meredith’s ReadyMade magazine.

Following its announcement that it was shuttering four magazines, including Elegant Bride and Modern Bride, Condé Nast Monday named Carolyn Kremins vice president and publisher of Brides, replacing Alison Matz who is leaving the company. Kremins most recently served as publisher of Cookie magazine which, along with Gourmet, was also closed.

OK! Magazine named another top editor, with Coverawards.com editorial director and publisher Mark Pasetsky being appointed managing editor, overseeing the magazine’s day-to-day operations. Pasetsky, who formerly served as editor-in-chief of Life & Style, most recently served a senior consultant to OK! The magazine’s former top editor, Katie Caperton, left in May after less than two months on the job.

The Hearst Corporation elected four executives to its board of directors. They include: George R. Hearst III, publisher of the Albany Times Union; Hearst Business Media president and Hearst Corp. senior vice president Richard P. Malloch; Scott M. Sassa, Heart Entertainment & Syndication president and Hearst Corp. senior vice president; and Steven R. Swartz, who serves as president of Hearst Newspapers and also as senior vice president of Hearst Corp.

Montreal-based magazine printer Worldcolor announced a number of personnel changes: John V. Howard Jr. was named executive vice president and chief legal officer; Robert L. Sell was named executive vice president and CIO; and Ben Schwartz was promoted Ben Schwartz to executive vice president of human resources.
