Federated Media—which handles advertising for sites and blogs—has appointed Deanna Brown president and COO. Brown, who co-founded CondéNet in 1995, most recently served as president of Scripps Networks Digital. Federated's founder John Battelle will remain CEO.
Future US appointed John Marcom Jr. president, replacing Jonathan Simspon-Bint, who left the company. Most recently, Marcom spent four years at Yahoo! where he served as senior vice president ofr international operations. His appointment is effective in October.
Meredith named Mary C. Hickey deputy editor of Ladies’ Home Journal. Hickey previously served as articles editor at Glamour and worked for Ladies’ Home Journal from 1994 to 1996.
Leah Wyar was named beauty director at Hearst’s Cosmopolitan. Most recently, Wyar served as beauty director at Fitness.
Former Sports Illustrated digital president Jeff Price was appointed to the board of directors for ClipSync, an interactive television platform. Prior to serving as digital president, Price served as Sports Illustrated’s vice president and chief marketing officer.
Hanley Wood Business Media named Jim Schneider as editor of metalmag magazine. Most recently, Schneider served as senior editor for eco-structure and metalmag magazines.
Story Worldwide named Michael Hoar as group account director. Previously, Hoar spent nine years at DDB Worldwide as group account director.
