Meredith Corrals SEO and Content Tagging into Single System
Web content to be better optimized and organized for digital publishing.
Meredith has secured the services of EveryZing, a Woburn, Massachusetts-based technology provider, to more efficiently manage and publish its rich media across its network of sites.
With the massive land-rush to increase engagement through richer content offerings online, publishers have been boosting their production of audio, images and video. Consequently, companies are finding that the content pipeline needs perpetual care and feeding. The deployment, organization and, importantly, ability of searchers to find content have become core operational functions.
With EveryZing, Meredith said it will achieve greater efficiencies in publishing, organizing and optimizing its content across the company’s 32 Web sites, which include BHG.com, Parents.com and FitnessMagazine.com. Essentially, the service applies a uniform, hosted tagging scheme to Meredith’s content—Meredith uploads its content and EveryZing sends back an XML markup for each asset.
Meredith gets a consistent tagging process, and, the thinking goes, its 12 million monthly uniques are better able to locate relevant content. According to Jeff Myers, vice president and general manager of Meredith Special Interest Media, Meredith's "ability to leverage our print and multimedia assets—combined with the creation of Web-purposed content—creates significant business opportunities for us."
