Magazine Printer to Cut 140 Jobs
Quad/Graphics layoffs follow larger reduction earlier this year.
Sussex, Wisconsin-based commercial magazine printer Quad/Graphics said it will lay off 140 employees this week from its imaging and QuadTech divisions. The cuts are nationwide but will come primarily from its facilities in Wisconsin, a spokesperson said.
“The reductions in QuadTech are a result of an overall pullback in business equipment capital expenditures,” the spokesperson told FOLIO:. “Imaging was mostly unaffected in the last round of staff reductions but has since realized unanticipated reductions in workload.”
In January, Quad/Graphics eliminated 550 jobs across five states and reduced production by shutting down what it said was the equivalent of one plant’s worth of capacity. At the time, president and CEO Joel Quadracci called for industry-wide capacity reductions.
The company’s QuadTech division designs and manufactures press and finishing controls.
