IDG Recasts Corporate Sales as ‘Strategic Marketing Services’
New name ‘better reflects’ marketers’ needs beyond traditional media buys.
Framingham, Massachusetts-based publisher IDG has renamed its corporate sales and marketing operation in the U.S. to Strategic Marketing Services.
The Strategic Marketing Services name “more closely reflects marketers’ increasing reliance on IDG for a range of services—like consulting, integrated programs such as custom media, and most recently social media capabilities—beyond traditional media buys," an IDG spokesperson told FOLIO:.
As part of the transition, Matthew Yorke, who previously served as senior vice president of corporate sales and marketing was promoted to president of Strategic Marketing Services. IDG also appointed longtime advertising agency professional Deidra Bodkin—who most recently served as vice president and group media director of ZenithOptimedia—to vice president of client services.
According to Yorke, the hiring of Bodkin “and her extensive agency experience underscores the importance of both services and products for our technology clients.” This year, about a third of the revenue generated by corporate sales has come from custom, service-oriented programs, he said.
Charles Lee, who served as vice president of IDG corporate sales, also was promoted, to senior vice president of strategic programs and custom solutions.
Last week, Lincolnshire, Illinois-based Vance Publishing said it launched Vance Marketing Solutions, a Web development and digital marketing services business.
