Fortune Small Business, The Scientist Take ASPBE's ‘Magazine of the Year’ Honors
Trade group announces annual Azbee award winners.
The American Society of Business Publication Editors has announced the winners of its annual Azbee Awards of Excellence. Fortune Small Business and The Scientist were named ‘Magazines of the Year’ during the group’s two-day National Editorial Conference in Washington, D.C.
This is the second consecutive year that The Scientist has won in the under-80,000 circ category.
National awards were broken up by editorial and design categories according to a publication’s circulation. Winners of editorial gold awards in the larger circ. category (above 80,000) included Automotive News and IEEE Spectrum, with BusinessWeek, Computerworld and PC World winning multiple editorial awards.
In the smaller magazine category (less than 80,000-circ.), editorial gold winners included The American Lawyer, Automotive News, EcoHome, Foodservice Equipment Reports, Multifamily Executive and SC Magazine.
ASBPE's only award presented to an individual, The Stephen Barr Award for Feature Writing, was given to Lessiter Publications' chairman and editorial director, Frank Lessiter, for a four-part series in American Farriers Journal.
Meanwhile, CFO magazine received three gold awards for design. Computerworld and Restaurants & Institutions each took home two gold design awards. Under 80,000-circ. winners include Builder, Golf Course Industry, Government Technology, Ophthalmology Times and TED Magazine.
