Mark Logic Adds to Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility
San Carlos, California-based CMS and infrastructure services provider Mark Logic Corp. recently debuted the MarkLogic Toolkit for PowerPoint, a service that allows users to more easily integrate Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 with the MarkLogic Server.

According to Mark Logic interoperability vendor alliance manager Jas Sandhu, the new service allows users to utilize the storage, search, analysis and delivery capabilities of the MarkLogic Server “from within all their favorite Microsoft Office applications.” Earlier this year, the company released MarkLogic Toolkit options for Microsoft Office Word and for Excel, as well as the MarkLogic Connector for Sharepoint.

Distributed under an open source model, the MarkLogic Toolkit for PowerPoint features an XQuery library to ingest Office Open XML, an add-in that allows users to embed information applications directly into PowerPoint and the ability for users to develop custom interfaces standards like HTML and JavaScript to build enterprise-wide presentation infrastructures.

Wordpress Enters Second Round of Edition Testing
As Wordpress nears the release of the 2.9 edition of its open source CMS model, it enters the second and final round of asking community developers to help identify system flaws November 14 to 16 in what it calls a “Big Hunt.”

The goals of the hunt, according to Wordpress, is for developers to test existing patches, to determine which known bugs pose the biggest problem to users and to find new bugs.

CMS Gets a Nod

Montreal, Canada-based Nstein Technologies’ digital asset management system was named among document management content provider KMWorld’s “Trendsetting Products” of 2009.

KMWorld called Nstein’s DAM is a “modular and robust XML-based digital asset management system that provides content-centric enterprises with a strategic repository of their assets that makes them ready for reuse across any digital channel.” KMWorld’s judging panel included “editorial colleagues,” analysts, system integrators, users and vendors, it said.

Nstein’s DAM joins its test mining engine and Web content management system, which were previously named to KMWorld’s trendsetting list.

Convio Expands Open Platform

Convio Web Services is a new set of standard interfaces offered by the Austin, Texas-based CMS that allows users to build client applications that “retrieve and synchronize” data to the Convio system. It provides external applications with “flexible access” to data captured and stored by the system. Messages between the user and server follow a secure XML format.

Convio’s Web Service will be available in late November, the company said.

In addition, Convio has released a number of new application programming interfaces and launched a new developer version of its Web site to offer improved documentation, Convio said.
