Bonnier to Relocate Babytalk to Florida

Bonnier Corp. is relocating the editorial and production operations of Babytalk magazine from New York City to its headquarters in Winter Park, Florida. The move, according to a company spokesperson, will be made “in order to operate more efficiently and take advantage of existing corporate resources.”

Susan Kane, who serves as editorial director of Bonnier’s Parenting Group, will continue to have oversight over Babytalk and the Parenting titles. As part of the move, three editorial staffers will be transitioning to Parenting and will remain in New York. Five other editorial staffers, as well as one person in production, will leave the company.

In Florida, Babytalk’s editorial team will be led by Ana Connery—formerly a senior editor at Cooking Light and who serves as editor-in-chief of Florida Travel & Life—and Sarah Kinbar, who serves as editor of Garden Design. Parenting’s editorial team and the business-side functions of both magazines will stay in New York.

“Babytalk is a critical component and asset to Bonnier's mom market,” the spokesperson said. “We are expanding our properties—print and online—in this category, not decreasing them.”

Babytalk saw ad pages fall 21.7 percent through the first quarter, according to Publishers Information Bureau figures.

Overall, Bonnier employs roughly 1,000 people in the U.S., the spokesperson said.
