The Atlantic Wins Webby for Best Magazine Site
Redemption after Ellies shutout.
After being passed over in this yearâs National Magazine Awards, the Atlantic has won a Webby award for best magazine Web site in this yearâs Webby Awards, beating Dwell, Interview, JPG and T Magazine for the honor.
Winners in the 13th annual competition were announced Tuesday. They will be honored at a June 8 ceremony in New York City.
TheAtlantic.com also took home the Peopleâs Voice Award for best Web site. Â
This victory came on the heels of its three nominations at this yearâs National Magazine Awards, resulting in no wins (the Atlantic won three so-called Ellies last year).
After winning eight Webbys in 2009, the New York Timesâ online unit won only three in 2009, including a Webby for best copywriting. (Wired.com won the Peopleâs Voice.)
The Huffington Post won two Webbys, one Peopleâs Voice Award for its political blog, and one Webby Award in the âPoliticsâ category.
