Jobson Medical Buys Two Thomson Divisions
Deal includes a patient-oriented information provider and review board.
Jobson Medical Information, a portfolio company backed by The Wicks Group, announced today its acquisition of Thomson Corporation's CenterWatch and New England Institutional Review Board. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Boston-based CenterWatch is a 13-year-old media company used by patients, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies. Publications include newsletters, books and directories. According to a statement, CenterWatch was the first Web site to publish information about active clinical trials that could be assessed by patients and their advocates.
NEIRB is an independent review board that reviews, monitors and approves clinical trials involving human subjects. Reviews are conducted on behalf of pharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations.
New York-based M&A firm Berkery Noyes represented Thomson in the deal.
Jobson Medical Information was bought by Wicks Medical Information in April 2005 for approximately $100 million.
