Longtime Cygnus staffer Shari Dodgen—who was named one of the company’s five brand directors last summer as part of a reorganization—has resigned to become associate vice president of custom media at McMurry Inc., a marketing communications company.
"It was just the right time, and it’s a fantastic opportunity," Dodgen tells FOLIO:. Her appointment is effective next week.
As part of the restructuring last July, Cygnus co-CEOs Carr Davis and Tony O’ Brien created five director positions to oversee the company’s portfolio of 15 brands. Dodgen, who had served as publisher of CPA Technology Advisor, was named director of the Aviation, Services, Transit and Creative Marketing Group.
Replacing Dodgen as director of custom marketing is Marco Rodriguez, co-founder of Nuestra Casa International, a national Spanish real estate magazine.
Cygnus has not yet named Dodgen’s replacement as brand director, according to a spokesperson. The properties under Dodgen’s responsibility, including Cygnus’ family of aviation magazines, will be reassigned to the remaining brand directors, the spokesperson says.
