Newsmax, the conservative newsmagazine, is celebrating its 10th anniversary (and Barack Obama’s first six months in office) with something unusual: a 12-day Mediterranean cruise. (Open question: What publisher would want to be stuck on a cruise ship with their readers—or anyone—for 12 days straight?)

On the agenda is nothing short of plotting the future of the GOP and “reshaping of the political landscape.” Stops include Rome, Monte Carlo, London, Barcelona, Lisbon, Bilbao, Bordeaux and Tangiers. Fox News analyst Dick Morris is among the “famous personalities” scheduled to appear.

The cost? Cabins are priced from $11,290 to $29,560 for the penthouse suite.

Here’s the invitation from editor Christopher Ruddy:

Dear Friend:

I would like to add my personal invitation to join us for our 10th anniversary celebration cruise.

Imagine joining me and several famous personalities, including FOX News analyst Dick Morris; health guru, Dr. Russell Blaylock; New York Times best-selling author, Ronald Kessler; health author, Dr. David Brownstein; former Good Morning American money guru, Steve Crowley; and many others.

Your dream can come true during June 2009 when we cruise on the luxury Crystal Symphony for 12 days beginning in Rome and ending in London!

As a Newsmax reader and subscriber, you’ll appreciate this unusually deluxe program — enjoying not only the great sights of the Mediterannean, but also discovering how to improve your well-being, the future of the GOP and reshaping of the political landscape, how to protect and grow your wealth during this period of uncertainty, and life-enhancing health strategies from leading medical doctors.

Our program has been designed uniquely for you, our readers. Cruising on this spectacular luxury ship with other like-minded Newsmax readers is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Our meetings will be “off the record”— letting experts and insiders tell you what is really going on in the media, Washington, healthcare, Wall Street, and more.

We’ll discuss the hottest political issues facing the country in this post-election period, the most profitable opportunities in financial markets today, and life-enhancing strategies for greater health and longevity.

You will have one-on-one face time with me and our experts and celebrity friends. Plus, have all your questions answered by our distinguished faculty.

But, most importantly, you will make many new friends who share your worldview.

We look forward to sharing this very special time with you.

Sincerely,

Christopher Ruddy
Editor in Chief

I would love to be stuck on this ship

As one of the top cruise industry reporters, a conservative and a fan of Dick Morris, I would LOVE to be stuck on this ship anytime. Your tired sobriquet that one is "stuck" on a luxury vessel that actually transports you in (I am sure for neophytes like you) unimaginable luxury and indulgence to fantastic world destinations, is all too typical. Get a clue, please, about the significance of sailing passenger vessels. They are ultimately convenient and rewarding for world travelers. And ships have played a significant role in human history. I suppose you would rather see the Mediterranean in the company of barely legal backpackers on Greek ferries sleeping next to the Coke machines. Or perhaps you don't know the difference between one of those vessels and the ship you are describing? As the editor of a CruiseMates.com, one of the top cruise industry guides online, I just completed a cruise with 99 of MY readers on an cruise ship and it was a fantastic experience.
THE APPROPRIATENESS OF THIS

So these individuals will discuss on a SHIP how the hate filled GOP can right their sinking SHIP? HA!!! Well one of the things they can do is toss their hateful toned rhetoric overboard. And try to appeal to a broader audience and not just the neocon base, because as the recent election has shown, you go no where catering to just the base.
Poseidon, where are you?

Wow! Wouldn't this be THE ideal moment for a rogue wave? Or maybe an iceberg? I wonder if they'll burn their crosses on the promenade deck or the lido deck? They should have Fred "Gopher" Grandy as a special guest since he was a GOP senator from Iowa after his "Love Boat" days. This is truly a joke in need of a punchline. The GOP is exactly where it deserves to be...in STEERAGE!!!
It'll be interesting

With so many social conservatives in one place, the restrooms will probably sound like Riverdance.

You want the GOP to be saved? I've got a few suggestions. Stop being dishonest and try a little less spin and a little more reality. Stop making your fellow GOP members afraid to speak their minds by practicing a little more freedom of speech via the CONSTITUTION. Remember that document? America likes individuality, stop voting lockstep and start voting your hearts and your minds. Bring back real family values like love of each other and country..not money. Don't cover for bad GOP members..get rid of them. Obey our constitution and Bill of Rights..don't pick and choose what you like from there, just follow the documents you all swore to uphold. No torture and preserve the right to privacy. no illegal wiretapping. Do what is right and biggest thing of all is separation of church and state. Do you want a Theocracy again? Lots of blood on your hands. Love your fellow man and care about the environment for your children. Don't pollute and allow science to find it's cures. Don't stand in the way of progress. Think for yourselves, not as one brain but as the individual human mind. If you can do this, the Republican party might stand a chance. Mr. Ruddy, stand up for what is right for all, become a real news agency, not just your own opinions and those of your friends.
