The Boston Globe has launched OT, a new sports weekly. OT, which stands for "Our Town/Our Teams," will provide coverage of professional sports teams beyond what’s covered in the paper.

"It reads more like a Sports Illustrated than a daily newspaper," according to Jay Fogarty, vice president of strategic planning for Boston Globe Media.

The 24-page oversize tabloid will appear in full color on bright newsprint, to be published weekly on Thursdays. The sports weekly will feature articles, columns and analysis by the paper’s columnists and bloggers as well as previews of upcoming games involving the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins—the city’s four major sports teams.

The initial press run of OT is 20,000 copies at a newsstand cost of 50 cents. It is set to be sold at 420 locations from Southern New Hampshire to Southern Rhode Island, including Stop & Shop stores and standalone news racks.

OT joins the Globe’s growing roster of niche publications to be rolled out in the past two years, including Lola, a monthly magazine targeted at young women; FB, a monthly with a name that stands for "Fashion Boston"; and Design New England, a bimonthly magazine about home and garden design.
