Reader's Digest Names Jeff Wellington Publisher

Another significant staffing change was made Wednesday at the Reader’s Digest Association as the Parenting Group’s Jeff Wellington was named publisher of its flagship Reader’s Digest magazine. He will assume his post Oct. 22.
“Jeff joins us at an exciting and pivotal time in the magazine's evolution, as we reposition Reader's Digest in the marketplace and ramp up for a redesign this coming January,” said Eva Dillon, president of RD Inspiration and group publisher of Reader’s Digest, in a statement. A phone call to RD was not immediately returned.
Most recently, Wellington served as president and group publisher at The Parenting Group, which publishes Parenting and Babytalk magazines. Wellington started there in 1998 as associate publisher and was named publisher in 2000. He was named to his current post in 2005. Wellington led the company’s transition after it was acquired by the Bonnier Group from Time Inc. earlier this year.
Wellington’s move to RD is the latest of the magazine’s executive-side personnel changes since the association’s $2.4 billion acquisition by an investment group, and Mary Berner signed on as president and CEO in March. Wellington succeeds former publisher Ben Madden who left the magazine in March, along with associate publisher Sean Flanagan and group publisher Denise Favorule.
