Hachette Filipacchi Media has lured Philippe Perthuis away from Paris’ Lagardére Active to serve as senior vice president/CFO. At Lagardére Active Perthuis was deputy director of finance. He replaces Antoine de Noyer who is leaving the company.

The Reader’s Digest Association has named Anne Balaban publisher of Every Day With Rachel Ray. She joins the magazine from Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia’s Everyday Food where she had served as senior vice president since 2004. She joined MSLO in 2001 as advertising director of marthastewart.com.

Esquire has hired a pair of directors to lead its fashion and retail advertising sales team. Former Men’s Vogue international fashion director Louis Coletti joins Esquire as international fashion and specialty retail director. Randi Siegel has been appointed American fashion and retail director. Siegel previously was executive director of luxury at House & Garden.

Mark Suster has joined the Economist in the new role of vice president of finance and operations. Suster will be responsible for strategic financial analysis and the production and distribution operations for the Economist in the Americas. Previously Suster was New York CFO of a company called FCB.

After Scott Donaton left for Entertainment Weekly, Crain Communications’ Ad Age promoted Allison Price to take his place as publisher. Price will oversee print, digital, and event operations for the magazine and for sister publication Creativity.

National Geographic magazine has promoted Bob Amberg to national advertising director. The former southeast sale manager joined the magazine in 1999 as senior account manager. Before that he was publisher of Walking magazine.

Reed Business U.K.’s Neil Stiles is set to replace Charlie Koones as president and publisher of Variety. Among his accomplishments, Stiles has managed two dozen franchises, and most recently served as managing director. Variety is published by the Reed Business Entertainment Group.

Success magazine publisher VideoPlus has announced that Phil Ganz to oversee its national advertising sales team. Ganz is principle of The Ganz Company, an advertising sales firm.

F+W Publications has appointed Jason White as publisher of Scuba Diving. White joins the magazine from World Publications where he was publisher of Cruising World, Power Cruising and Sailing World.

Linda Kast has been named a publisher at Waukesha, Wisconsin-based Kalmbach Publishing. Kast will be responsible for the company’s line of hobby and craft titles-including Art Jewelry and Make It Mine-and its books publishing group.
