U.S.-based Bonnier Corporation chairman Jonas Bonnier has been named CEO of Bonnier Worldwide. Bonnier helped launch Bonnier Online in 1995 and began working at the Bonnier Magazine Group in 1996. In addition to his role as chairman, Bonnier most recently served as executive vice president. His new post is effective January 1.

Former Gawker co-editor Alex Balk has joined RadarOnline as executive editor. Balk, who will be responsible for managing the editorial content for the site, replaces Jeff Bercovici, who left to join Condé Nast’s Portfolio this summer.

Travel + Leisure publisher Julie McGowan has resigned, ending a 12-year run at American Express Publishing. "After such a long and distinguished career at American Express, McGowan decided that now is a good time to move on," an American Express spokesperson says. McGowan's replacement has not been named. Her resignation is effective close of business Friday, Oct. 19.

John Weisgerber has been named vice president/director of digital advertising at Hachette Filipacchi Media. Weisgerber had previously worked at Forbes Media since 2002, holding titles such as group advertising director for Forbes.com and vice president of corporate sales.

Scientific American has appointed Steven Yee as president. Yee will be responsible for overseeing the magazine’s print and digital editorial, publishing and international projects. Most recently, Yee was senior vice president and head of global marketing for Reuters Media.

Two new contributing editors have been added to the masthead at Playboy. One is Fox News Washington correspondent James Rosen. The other is Los Angeles-based pop culture writer David Hochman.

The Meredith Corporation has named Debra Brandt publisher of Traditional Home magazine. Before joining Meredith, Brandt served as publisher of Hour Media’s New York Home and Absolute magazines. She replaces Pam Daniels, who left the magazine.

The WEEK magazine has officially named its staff for TheWEEKDaily.com. Harold Maass, one of The WEEK's U.S. founders, has been named editor. Other hires include: Ken Switzer, associate editor; Peter Weber, contributing editor; Obele Brown-West, online marketing manager; and Kate Goebel, online account manager.

The Parenting Group has announced three personnel changes:

▪ Nancy Hallberg has returned to the Parenting Group as chief strategy officer. She had served as group vice president of marketing there from 2004 to 2006. Most recently she was director of custom research for online and consumer marketing for Condé Nast.

▪ Integrated Marketing Director Jennifer Evans has been promoted to group director of sales and marketing. Evans joined the Parenting Group in 2004 and has headed marketing efforts at Babytalk magazine and Parenting.com.

▪ Former Disney Publishing senior account manager Owen Walsh has been named east coast advertising director. He will manage sales for the New York, Detroit, Boston and Atlanta offices.

Maria Cristina Marrero has been chosen to fill the newly created position of executive editor at Meredith Corp.’s Ser Padres magazine. In her new role, Marrero will be responsible for assigning stories and managing freelancers. Previously, she was the fashion and beauty editor at Vanidades magazine. Meredith announced this week that it will merge Healthy Kids en Español magazine with Ser Padres to creating what it calls the largest Spanish-language consumer magazine in the country.

CMP’s Semiconductor Insights has appointed Harry Page as president. With more than 25 years in the telecommunications and microelectronics industries, Page will lead the company’s management team and report to the president of CMP’s Electronics Group.
