Nielsen Restructures, Launches Online, Mobile Measurement Services
Nielsen has announced a pair of new services—Nielsen Online and Nielsen Mobile—to measure engagement across a rapidly changing media landscape for consumers.
According to executive chairman Itzhak Fisher, Nielsen Online will be comprised of the company's Nielsen//NetRatings and BuzzMetrics services, which provide measurement and analysis of “online audiences, advertising, video, blogs, consumer-generated media, word-of-mouth, commerce and consumer behavior."
Nielsen Mobile combines the recently acquired Telephia, a syndicated consumer research firm for the telecom and mobile industry, with Nielsen’s current mobile initiatives.
Former executive vice president of Nielsen//NetRatings Manish Bhatia becomes president of global services and U.S. sales; Jonathan Carson, a co-founder of BuzzMetrics, who will serve as president of Nielsen Online's international organization. Sid Gorham, the former CEO of Telephia, has been named president and CEO of Nielsen Mobile.
