MPA Names Jack, John Q. Griffin to Board

BOCA RATON, FLORIDA—A pair of Griffins—National Geographic president John Q. Griffin and Meredith Corp. president Jack—were named to the board of the Magazine Publishers of America by Hearst president Cathie Black at the American Magazine Conference here Monday.

John Q. Griffin replaces outgoing MPA chairman, Hachette Filipacchi president and CEO Jack Kliger, who completed a three year term. Jack Griffin was named vice chairman.

Susan Lyne, CEO of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, replaced Jack Griffin as secretary. Time Inc. EVP John Squires was named Treasurer.

Other new members elected to the MPA Board include: Reader’s Digest Association president Mary Berner, Bonnier chairman Jonas Bonnier, BusinessWeek president Keith Fox, Johnson Publishing Co.’s Kenard Gibbs, Inc.; PC and MacWorld CEO Michael Kisseberth, and Ogden Publications publisher Bryan Welch.
