Los Angeles Wins Big at CRMA Awards

If Adam Moss was happy with New York's five awards out of seven nominations at the National Magazine Awards, the Los Angeles staff must have been rapturous over their 12 awards at the 22nd annual City and Regional Magazine Awards. The magazine dominated the ceremony Monday at the City and Regional Magazine Association's (CRMA) annual conference held this year in Denver. Close behind, however, was perennial favorite Texas Monthly with 11 awards.

Rounding out the top five winners are Philadelphia, with seven awards, and Mpls. St. Paul Magazine, with six and Chicago with five.

The General Excellence gold awards went to Los Angeles for circ over 60,000; Indianapolis Monthly for circ between 30,000 and 60,000; and Berkshire Living for circ under 30,000.

Texas Monthly grabbed gold for Excellence in Design and Excellence in writing. Mpls. St. Paul took the gold for Excellence Online.

Selecting the finalists were 73 judges from 35 publications and the Missouri School of Journalism, which has coordinated the awards for CRMA for the last 11 years.
