Editor Leaves Portfolio
There appears to be more staff shuffling at Condé Nast’s Portfolio: Jeffrey Chu, senior associate editor, will be leaving the magazine to join Mansueto Ventures' Fast Company, according to the New York Post. Portfolio recently added former Daily News gossip columnist Lloyd Grove and media reporter Jeff Bercovici, most recently a senior writer at Radar.
The moves are the latest in a series of recent personnel changes that began earlier this month when editor-in-chief Joanne Lipman reportedly fired deputy editor Jim Impoco. Tempers flared between the two when a story written by senior writer Kurt Eichenwald, which Impoco campaigned for, was cut from the lineup. Eichenwald later resigned.
Billed as a business publication with big, bold articles and dynamic visuals, Portfolio launched this April. Four months later, the second issue hit newsstands Aug. 15 with 122 ad pages, down from 185 in the first issue. It was, however, the third-best ad-page count for a second issue behind O, The Oprah Magazine, according to Portfolio publisher David Carey.
