Ann Shoket, execitve editor of CosmoGirl has been named editor-in-chief of Seventeen, Hearst president Cathleen Black said in a statement today. Shocket replaces Atoosa Rubenstein, who resigned from the publication late last year.

"Ann has extensive experience and a proven track record in both teen magazines and in the digital world, an important area of growth for Seventeen," said Black. "She understands the teen market and has the talent and smarts to lead Seventeen to the next level."

Shoket, 34, has been with CosmoGirl since its 1999 launch and has been executive editor since October 2003. In 2000, she was chosen to be Web editorial director of Under her supervision, the site’s page views doubled, according to a statement from Hearst. Shocket begins her position at the publication immediately.
