Prism Launches New Product and Service Online

Prism Business Media's Broadcast Engineering magazine has launched a new series of Web-based training courses for broadcast engineers and operations staff. The courses were developed in conjunction with OBOR Digital and are designed to introduce new technology, solutions and operations to younger staff members, while providing more experienced staff members with a structured and thorough review of these topics.

Prism has also launched its Truck Blue Book online site, which complements the print version of the blue book and provides instant access to 20 years of medium and heavy duty commercial truck valuation data via the Web. Subscriptions are priced at $339.95


Hearst Magazines Partners with Glam Media

Hearst Magazines has inked a syndication deal with fashion and lifestyle portal Glam Media that will bring articles from Hearst publications, beginning with Marie Claire, to Glam.com.

Under the agreement, Marie Claire will provide Glam with editorial content from the magazine, as well as interactive content, such as the blog it contributed to Glam earlier this year on 2006 fashion weeks. Links to Hearst magazine Web sites to promote subscriptions and circulation also will be featured on Glam.com.

Marie Claire, in turn, will use Glam Media's fashion, beauty, and lifestyle channels and other features - including GlamSpace, the site's social- networking community for fashion fans - to create a new experience for readers.

In related news, Glam Media said today it has received $18.5 million in Series C funding from Duff Ackerman & Goodrich Ventures, with participation from existing investors Accel Partners, Draper Fisher, Jurvetson, WaldenVC and Information Capital. The money will be used to grow the fashion and style network and expand its sales and editorial teams. Currently, 7 million unique visitors visit Glam Media, which is comprised of 200 fashion and lifestyle Web sites and blogs, each month, according to a statement from the company.


Redmond Media Group to Host TechPartner Conference for Microsoft Partners

Custom publishers, the Redmond Media Group will host a new conference for Microsoft partners, the TechPartner Conference. It will be held March 28-29 at the Hilton in the Walt Disney World Resort, Orlando, Florida. The TechPartner Conference will help Microsoft partners understand the revenue opportunities associated with the new Microsoft product releases slated for next year.

The TechPartner Conference will be co-located with the TechMentor Conference aimed at IT managers and network administrators needing technical training on automating, managing, securing and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows server systems.


Stora Enso Appoints New Director of Research

Stora Enso has appointed Dean Benjamin to director of research at the Biron Research Center.

In this new role, Benjamin will retain leadership for Publication Papers product development and report to John Gillen, president, Stora Enso North America Corp.


Burda Digital Systems Creates New Business Model

Burda Digital Systems, the IT services arm of Hubert Burda Media, has created a new business model to expand its revenue streams and reduce costs leveraging SAP software and the IT flexibility of enterprise service-oriented architecture (enterprise SOA).

The new model bundles Burda's best-practice business processes cultivated over Burda to offer them externally as standalone services, delivered via the service-enabled mySAP ERP 2005 application and the SAP NetWeaver platform.

Rolled out in half the estimated time, the enterprise SOA-based solution is delivers benefits such as 20-percent cost reductions tapping business process synergies across the enterprise and seamlessly integrating SAP software with legacy applications and open-source offerings. Hubert Burda Media owns 260 magazines including the German editions of Elle, Playboy, InStyle.


Zinio Launches 50 New Consumer Titles

Digital magazine provider Zinio has launched 50 new consumer magazine titles in 10 countries in response to increased demand for digital magazines. In the U.S., Zinio, which now publishes more than 100 titles in digital format, launched Men's Health, Black Enterprise, Penthouse, The Advocate and Out.

Internationally, Zinio has launched digital versions of National Geographic Espa├▒a, Elle, Maxim, Ragazza, Telenovela, Cosmopolitan (Spain); Hello! (Thailand), among others. please visit and for international publications.
